Thanks for the info. I'm just starting SEO so it makes my head hurt a little bit, but I guess I've got some serious time before I have to worry about it as Google won't be letting my site show up in search results for some time.

I have to say the one line site link is a time-saver. Being able to go directly to the page within a site I want without having to click through several pages (waiting for them to load) is great!

Excellent post. While searching I often noticed it, but never realized the scenario, thought that it shows for Brand-sites only. Now its clear to me. You have successfully explained it in depth.
Thanx.

My site just got this one-line sitelinks recently at the beginning of April. However, my sites ranking for both homepage and inner pages start fluctuated after got these sitelinks. My homepage ranking for main keyword shuffle between #2 (old ranking) --> #128 and sometimes gone nowhere. The ranking only come backs as they were when the new content published.

The weird thing is, full sitelinks (8) will appear when I do search for domain without extension while only got one-line sitelinks (4) when I do search for full domain name with extension.

Another funny things is, most of listing which appeared under my site listing are pages that I never built up links to them while pages that I built up quality links are not appearing. This site is the most promoted one with quality link regularly and quality content added often.

Great post, and dito as all say, very informative. I was wondering what thoughts you had on standard sitelinks (as apposed to one line): How many more sites have been granted sitelinks in this update, would seem alot, but wonder if you had enough data to give a stab at a %. Is this extremely high comparibly to the former with branded searches?

A site of ours has been granted site links in this update, still yet to see any one line SLs for keyword searches though.

Update: Just saw an instance of single-line sitelinks that only had three links instead of four.
