Personally, I don't support paid blogging services for advertisers. One loses a level of quality and several layers of authenticity when they not only post a paid review on their blog. The advertiser also loses out on generating an organic (free) review with reputable bloggers.

I admit, I am a publisher (meaning ads run on my blog) for Text-Link-Ads; and I like their model and the implementation for WordPress. It's totally fine and there is not underhanded endorsements made with TLA. Don't worry, I'm not an affiliate and you can hardly see the links used with TLA... I'm just speaking for personal experience.

Good comparison, but I'm still down with the paid promotion on blogs. It's about authenticity, transparency and personality.
